Write for Us
Write for GiantOtterResearch.Com - Welcome!
Our readers are people who follow environment, science and education closely and want the detail behind the headline: what a study actually found, how a policy works in practice, what happens in a classroom or a river catchment when a decision is made. They are researchers, teachers, students, campaigners and general readers who prefer a clear explanation to a press release.
A contribution puts your knowledge in front of that audience. If you have field experience, a teaching method worth describing, or a piece of research that deserves a plain account, this page explains how to write for us. We edit carefully and we keep published pieces online, so your work stays findable after the news cycle has moved on.
What we publish
- Ecology and conservation: species monitoring, habitat restoration, river and wetland management, and the results of local surveys.
- Climate and environmental policy: how new rules affect land use, energy, waste or water, explained with examples rather than slogans.
- Research explained: a recent paper or long-running study summarised for a non-specialist reader, with its limits stated honestly.
- Science practice: fieldwork methods, data collection, replication, and what goes wrong in the lab or in the field.
- Education: classroom practice, curriculum change, science teaching, outdoor learning and access to study at every level.
- Place-based reporting: a river, reserve, school or town where an environmental or scientific story is playing out in concrete terms.
Guest posts and sponsored articles
We accept both contributed editorial and sponsored placements. A guest post is written by you and edited by us; a sponsored post is paid for by an organisation with a relevant interest, and we mark it as sponsored where disclosure is required. Both are permanent, indexed and edited to the same standard. Editorial links in contributed pieces are dofollow. Sponsored posts are disclosed clearly at the top of the article. Prices are available on request, and the usual turnaround from accepted draft to publication is 3 to 5 working days.
Guidelines
- Send original work that has not been published elsewhere, in print or online.
- Length: 800 words or more. Shorter pieces are considered only if the subject genuinely suits a brief format.
- Include one or two relevant links, ideally to primary sources such as studies, official data or the organisation you are writing about.
- Nothing illegal, defamatory or misleading. Gambling, adult and pharmaceutical subjects are considered case by case and must be relevant to our readers.
- An author bio is optional. If you supply one, keep it to two or three sentences and one link.
- We edit for house style: British spelling, plain sentences, no promotional tone. We will send you the edited draft before publication.
If you are unsure whether a subject fits, ask before you write. It saves everyone time. Reading a few recent articles is the quickest way to absorb our contributor guidelines in practice, and it helps you pitch something we have not already covered.
